Sermon: 2/15/22- Thursday's Devotional

When We Try to Help God
Reading: Genesis 16:1-16, 17:15-22; Proverbs 3:5-6

Ishmael represents our well-intentioned attempts to fulfill God's promises through human effort. Abram's plan made cultural sense and seemed to align with God's word—an heir from his own body. Yet it wasn't God's plan. Here's the grace: God didn't abandon Abram or curse Ishmael. He blessed what came from Abram's mistake while still fulfilling the original promise. Your detours don't disqualify you. The wrong exits you've taken, the ways you've tried to force God's hand—He works through those too. God specializes in redeeming our messes while keeping us on course toward His purpose. Stop living in shame over past mistakes. God is already building a road from where you are to where He's called you.
