Sermon: 2/1/26- Tuesday's Devotional

The Danger of Comfortable Christianity
Reading: Matthew 28:16-20; Acts 1:6-8

Jesus didn't give the Great Commission so we could build impressive church buildings and wait for people to come admire them. The verbs He used are active: "go," "make," "baptize," "teach." These are not passive words for passive people. Yet how easily we transform Christianity into a comfortable religion of weekly attendance and familiar routines. The early church understood this differently—they scattered, they went, they faced persecution, and they turned the world upside down. Our tendency is to create Christian communities that speak our language, share our values, and never challenge us. But that's not the gospel's way. The gospel is inherently disruptive to our comfort. Where is Jesus calling you to "go" today? What familiar nest is He asking you to leave?
