Sermon: 11/1/26- Wednesday's Devotional

The Cost of Impatience
Reading: Isaiah 40:31 (those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength); Psalm 27:14 (the call to wait on the Lord and be of good courage)

Saul had clear instructions. Wait seven days. Samuel will come. It was not a complicated command. But as the days passed and soldiers began to leave and the Philistine army loomed larger, Saul decided to act. He told himself the offering needed to happen and that he could make it happen. His impatience led him to assume authority that was never his to take. The result was the loss of a dynasty. Impatience is rarely loud and dramatic. It is usually quiet and reasonable-sounding, dressed up in logic and urgency. But acting outside of God's timing and boundaries is still disobedience, no matter how sensible it feels in the moment.

Personal Reflection: Can you recall a time when impatience led you to overstep a boundary God had set? What were the consequences?

Practical Application: Choose one area where you are currently waiting on God. Commit today to not manufacturing your own solution for the next seven days, and journal what you observe during that time.
