Sermon: 10/25/26- Thursday's Devotional

The Cost of Rejecting God's Kingship
Reading: 1 Samuel 10:17-19 -- Samuel reminds the people that in demanding a king, they have rejected the God who delivered them from every hardship and oppression.

Samuel does not soften the message. He stands before the people and names what they have done plainly: they have rejected their God. What is striking is that they did not set out to reject God. They simply wanted a king. They wanted safety. They wanted to feel like everyone else. But the road to disobedience rarely begins with a dramatic act of rebellion -- it begins with a series of small decisions shaped by what we want rather than what God has called us to. The enemy does not often ask us to abandon God outright. He simply asks us to pursue what we want, and lets the distance grow on its own.

Reflection Question: Are there areas in your life where the slow drift toward what you want has quietly created distance between you and God?

Practical Application: Read Proverbs 3:5-6, which speaks of trusting God fully rather than leaning on your own understanding. Identify one specific area where you need to trust God's direction more than your own instincts.
