Sermon: 10/18/26- Wednesday's Devotional

Seeking God Before Acting
Reading: Psalm 27:7-14 — The psalmist pleads for God's presence, refuses to act in fear, and resolves to wait on the Lord with confident expectation.

The Israelites at Mizpah made a remarkable choice. When they heard the Philistines were advancing, they did not run for their weapons first — they stayed in prayer and asked Samuel to keep interceding. They sought God before they acted. This is the pattern the sermon describes as the opposite of "ready, fire, aim." Waiting on God before responding to pressure is not passivity; it is the highest form of active trust. The discipline of seeking first transforms not just our decisions but the condition of our hearts.

Reflection Question: When crisis or urgency arrives, what is your instinctive first move?

Practical Application: The next time you face a stressful situation, set a timer for five minutes and pray before you respond, plan, or speak.
