Sermon: 10/18/26- Tuesday's Devotional

The Long Road Back to God
Reading: 1 Samuel 7:2-4 — After twenty years, the people of Israel finally turn back to the Lord with whole hearts and put away their foreign gods.

Twenty years is a long time to wander. Yet the text records, without condemnation, that the people eventually returned. God's patience outlasts our stubbornness. However, returning to God is never merely a declaration — it is a direction. Samuel made it clear that genuine repentance required action: rid yourselves of what competes with God and commit fully. Half-hearted devotion is not devotion at all. Whatever has quietly taken God's place in your life, today is the right moment to set it aside and reorient your whole heart toward Him.

Reflection Question: What has been slowly pulling your attention and affection away from God?

Practical Application: Identify one habit, pursuit, or distraction that has been functioning as a competing loyalty, and take a concrete step today to reduce its hold on you.
