When Life Falls Apart
Reading: Ruth 1:1-5; Psalm 34:18

Naomi lost her husband and both of her sons in a foreign land. Everything that provided security, identity, and hope was stripped away. The opening of Ruth does not soften this reality. It is raw and devastating. God does not always prevent suffering, but He is never absent from it. Psalm 34:18 assures us that He draws near to the brokenhearted. When your circumstances feel like they are collapsing, resist the urge to interpret God's silence as absence. He is present in the wreckage, and He is not finished with your story.
