Sermon: 8/16/26- Tuesday's Devotional

The Cost of Compromise
Reading: Joshua 23:6-13 -- Joshua warns Israel not to associate with surrounding nations in ways that would draw their hearts toward foreign gods.

Joshua's warning was not rooted in fear of other people -- it was rooted in knowledge of how influence works. Prolonged association with what pulls us away from God does not leave us neutral. It moves us. Slowly. Quietly. The snares Joshua described were not dramatic ambushes. They were gradual entanglements. The same is true today. What we consistently expose ourselves to shapes what we begin to accept, then normalize, then embrace. Guarding your heart is not legalism -- it is wisdom. The call is not to isolation but to discernment about what holds your deepest loyalty.

Reflection Question: What relationships, habits, or environments in your life are slowly pulling your attention and affection away from God?

Practical Application: Identify one area of ongoing compromise in your life. Bring it before God in honest prayer and ask for both clarity and courage to address it.
