Slow to Anger, Abounding in Love
Reading: Exodus 34:6-7; Psalm 103:8-14; 2 Peter 3:9

Long before the New Testament, God declared Himself compassionate, gracious, and slow to anger. These are not new qualities He adopted after sending His Son. They have always defined Him. The 400-year gap between God's warning to Abram and the judgment carried out in Joshua's day is a staggering picture of divine patience. God gave entire nations generations to turn from their sin. He waited. He is still waiting today. The same God who is slow to anger is also the God who will not leave the guilty unpunished. His patience is not weakness. It is mercy extended to those who do not deserve it.

Reflection: In what area of your life has God been patient with you far longer than you deserved? How does that patience shape the way you view His character?

Practical Application: Identify one relationship in your life where you have been quick to anger or slow to extend grace. Ask God to form His patience in you in that specific situation.
