Discipline Is an Expression of Love
Reading: Hebrews 12:5-11; Proverbs 3:11-12

Nobody enjoys discipline. But Hebrews is clear that God's correction is not punishment from a distant judge. It is the intentional intervention of a Father who refuses to watch His children walk further down a destructive path. The consequences Achan experienced were severe, and they were real. But the purpose behind divine discipline has always been restoration of direction, not destruction of the person. When difficulty enters your life, it is worth asking honestly whether God is redirecting you. Not every hardship is discipline, as the story of Job reminds us, but some of it is.  Recognizing the difference requires humility and prayer.

Reflection Question: Is there an area of difficulty in your life right now that may be God redirecting your path rather than punishing you?

Practical Application: Ask God today to give you discernment to know the difference between the suffering of a fallen world and the loving correction of a faithful Father. Respond to what He reveals with openness rather than resistance.
