Honest Before God
Reading: Psalm 22:1-11

Gideon stood before the angel of the Lord and voiced what many of us only dare to think: where is God in all of this? The psalm for today's reading captures that same raw honesty, where the writer cries out from a place of abandonment and confusion. God does not strike Gideon down for his words. He redirects him. This tells us something profound about the character of God. He can handle our honest grief and our hard questions. Pretending we are fine when we are not is not faith. Bringing our real selves before God is where faith actually begins.
