Seeing the Tiger and Running
Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:12-13; James 4:7-10

The difference between the two antelope scenarios is awareness. When the antelope sees the tiger and continues eating, we lose sympathy. Yet this is precisely what we do with sin. God points out the danger—through Scripture, the Holy Spirit's conviction, or wise counsel—and we acknowledge it but continue our behavior, thinking we're "faster" or can manage the risk. This is spiritual arrogance. Paul warns, "Let anyone who thinks they stand take heed lest they fall." The promise is that God provides a way of escape from every temptation, but we must take it. We must run. Fleeing isn't weakness; it's wisdom. Joseph literally ran from Potiphar's wife. What sin are you monitoring instead of fleeing? Today, stop managing the tiger and start running from it. Submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
