Being part of the global Church of the Nazarene, a missions minded denomination, we too are a missions minded local church. We support our denominational missions (NMI) through programs such as Faith Promise, which help our global missions program in funding the World Evangelism Fund.
This January, we went back to Honduras through Work & Witness to build a home for the pastor of the Chichicaste Iglesia del Nazareno, (Chichicaste Church of the Nazarene) – and to put on medical clinics for the surrounding area. Over 500 patients were seen in 3 clinics. Giving the local people much needed care both physically and spiritually. Through the daily work at the clinics we saw 5 people come to know Jesus as their Savior, and many more have been exposed to the Gospel of Christ. The physical labor at the worksite consisted of mixing lots of cement, on the ground, by hand. We poured floors in this little cinderblock home, ran wires for pending electricity, and put on a roof, as well as welding the steel windows and doors, and the glass louvers for the windows. Pastor Dan was able to preach a message, Live on Facebook, at the LasColinas Church of the Nazarene.
Samaritians Purse collects Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes filled with toys and other fun items and delivers them to children in need around the world in partnership with local churches. Each gift, prayerfully and uniquely packed by churches is an opportunity for the Gospel to transform the life of a child, a family and community. Many boys and girls also participate in The Greatest Journey, the 12 lesson follow-up discipleship course, where they learn to follow Jesus Christ and share Him with others.
In 2020, our local church packed 89 shoeboxes from Pomeroy during a pandemic! We are excited to see what we can do this year. The collection date is November 15-19th. Please have your boxes back by November 7th so we can finalize labels and load them to Clarkston’s collection center.
